Ewen Henderson was born in Staffordshire in 1934. He became interested in painting and sculpture over a period of seven years spent working for a timber company in Cardiff (Wales). He left Wales in 1964 to join a Pre-Diploma course at Goldsmiths College. University of London. From there, he went on to study ceramics under Hans Coper, Lucie Rie and Colin Pearson at the Camberwell School of Art, taking his degree there in 1968. Since that time, he has remained in London, teaching at Camberwell School of Art and Crafts, and has built up an international reputation.
